Suit up

Posted by michellemoquin on July 2, 2008

Hellooo….

Ready to don on your suit? No dear alien friends…We’re not talking human suits here…nope this is a swim suit that gives the Olympic swimmer an edge; 40 records have been broken since this past February when this suit was worn.  We’re talking the one and only Speedo LZR Racer Model. For a mere $550 bucks, this made in Italy swimsuit could win you the gold.  The caveat:  It only lasts 4-5 swims and one must be extremely patient when putting it on. First timers: It’ll take you 30 minutes to get it on. The real experienced ones can do it in 5. But no matter how experienced you are, you better have your nails trimmed, and no yanking or tugging or your mucho expensive suit will tear; a disaster you don’t want to experience. Even swimmers who have lucrative deals with rival swimwear companies are breaking away and donning this suit to wear in the Beijing Olympics.

Why all the fuss?  When you can increase your time by up to 2 seconds, you’d be crazy not to if the competition is all over it! This suit has been tested to create compression in certain areas and to reduce drag in others. It only gets 6.5% heavier when wet, a major advantage. And the corset-like stabilizer across the abdomen holds the body in position giving the swimmer a greater advantage to maintaining their form through a  physiological and bio-mechanical effect. Wow - are you getting all of this?  It’s also seamless - no sewing or gluing. They now laser cut the fabric and then ultrasonically fuse the fabric to create a seamless effect, meaning less drag. How cool is that? In testing, the fabric breaks before the seams do, which is probably why it only lasts through 4-5 swims.  I guess these Olympiads better not push it through that one last swim or we may see something more than we bargained for at the Olympics this year! :)

Election 2008 quote of the week

I know this is totally off subject but I just couldn’t resist to include this in today’s entry since I recently read it:

First Obama was labeled ‘Exotic’. That one bugged me….Now the latest is a quote from Grover Norquist,  who is labeled as a conservative activist who negatively critiques Obama on his liberal attitude in regards to his stance on economic issues and such;  and terms Obama:

“John Kerry with a tan.”

Oh Puhleez!

Hi Adam:  I wanted to get back to you. I was not quite finished with the whole Hercules bit but it seems it went into a direction it was supposed to go.  Anyway, you said, ‘His story was designed to condition a subconscious thought for humanity to follow.’ I guess it worked. Men and women have been conditioned as you have pointed out.   I am trying to grasp everything that you said and apply it to my needs, my reasoning for asking in the first place. So I will continue…If one were to change history, change the course; the story, so that women would be considered equal to man, how would the story change? Okay, so our dear Hercules didn’t have a choice in his actions, but what about Hera? Besides, not forgiving Hercules for something he had no choice in, which showed weakness on her part, what would you suggest Hera had done anything differently back then to change our conditions now, if any? I know you can’t change history,  (or maybe you can :) and you have given us advice for the present time, but one can certainly learn from the past and apply it to today’s world. And what about Zeus? Was he just standing back observing to see how it would play out, much like Carr who is doing the same with Howie?  Just curious. Thanks for the research you have done and for the advice you have given.  I look forward to chatting with you further.

….speaking of you Howie: How goes it? What is going on with you? I hope that you and Al are hanging in there.  Hi Al: You reading? Any talk between you and Howie about your departure or have you definitely made up your mind you are not going without Howie?  Hope you are hanging in there too and the mood swings have subsided.

Hi ZL:  Great to talk to you yesterday! We run out of time but we never seem to run out of things to say :)

Johnny Peepers: - hmmm…what does that name say?…Welcome to my blog - Thanks for throwing in your two.

If you think things are bad now, consider that your crooked government is working very hard to produce a national emergency. They believe that this is the only way for their party to be selected by the electorate.

They are presently using the same tactics Reagon used against Carter when he bargained with the Iranians to not release the hostages until he got in office. Ollie North and his crew moved in with the weapons for the pay off. The overall result was to allow a faction to seize control of Iran that had no trust for an american government that would risk the lives of their own citizens to win an election.

Now this has occurred again in Columbia. The same party has made similar bargains to give McCain the appearance of being a strong presidential candidate. Look for more such occurrences. The point is to plant in the minds of the electorate that MCCain can produce cooperation out of fear because he is the strong national security candidate.

They are secretly encouraging Israel to bomb Iran. Israel is skeptical because they know that this administration is capable of doing anything to remain in power. They also are aware of the fear many of them have of going to jail, if Obama decides to have a full scale investigation of their tenure in office.

Actually, Israel has no real clue of the extent of theft of public money, the selling of offices, jobs, contracts, political offices, executive positions, judicial appointments, and personal enrichment this administration has been involved in.

The spying on and in some cases “seeding” cases to ensure prosecutions of political foes. The illegal requirement that federal attorneys provide information concerning the cases they were prosecuting. They interfered with many cases to protect those loyal to their party and to punish their foes. In some cases using the possible prosecuting information to embarrass the political opponent running against a republican candidate.

They have already lined up two justices for the Supreme Court who have as their previous appointees have agreed to ensure no jail time for them. They have many federal appointees ready to rule as they wish on judicial matters to include the promise to corporations to continue to throw out any cases that make it to the federal level or that are appealed by corporations that lost on a state level.

Should you doubt this. Pick any case that was won against a republican contributing corporation during the last 7 years and follow it through. You will discover an overwhelming number of cases (93%) that were reversed in favor of the offending corporation. And in more than 95% of the cases in which a punitive award by the jury was made to discourage that type of behavior by future corporations, the reward was reduced so that it amounted to little more than an insignificant expense for the offending corporation.

They have appointed federal judges whose job is to cut awards for the lawyers of the people who have been offended to send a message to the plaintiff’s lawyers that it will not be economical to take an individual case against a corporation.

They are paying their corporate contributors back by appointing judges that will in a few years make it almost impossible for the average person to take a corporation to court. Those same judges are also obligated to keep their appointees our of jail.

A cursory look back at some to the republicans who have had their convictions over turned for administrated or “judicial errors” is way above what the average citizen can expect to experience. As AH says. “The fox is in charge of the hen house.”

This party has no intention of allowing an investigation into the actions of the bush administration. While some are appalled at what they have learned, most are willing to go along to avoid losing their election or having the republican party tarnished to the extent that the brand would be synonymous with corruption.

The democrats are becoming worried that they will not be able to capitalize on their turn in office. They are becoming worried that Obama will expose the republicans in a way that will bring increased scrutiny on their own crooked activities. So they are poised to rein in any intense investigation that will call for true “sunshine” in the halls of government.

AH finds this so interesting. He holds nightly talks on the “issues of the day.” He is looking forward to influencing both his “democratic baby” here on this earth and the opportunity that Azza will give him to affect a true democratic opportunity somewhere out there in deep space.
